Your opportunity:

This role reports to the Director, Strategy and Partnerships, PRiME, and supports PRiME’s mission, vision and goals of accelerating drug discovery for novel therapeutics to advance precision medicine by cultivating robust local, national and international partnerships with a pipeline of research translation and training programs in drug discovery, delivery, and diagnostics. This role is ideal for those who enjoy a diverse range of tasks, possess attention to detail, and have initiative. Your strong interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills will enable you to successfully navigate a multifaceted network and foster positive relationships with diverse stakeholders including faculty, trainees, granting agencies, partner organizations, industry, and sponsors. Utilizing your resourcefulness and attention to detail, you will support the diverse range of PRiME programs that involve substantial coordination, contributing to the achievement of our goals and meeting time sensitive grant and strategic deliverables.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting research translation and talent training initiatives to increase PRiME’s visibility and reputation (including delivering presentations)
  • Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications and opportunities
  • Support grant administration including writing grant applications, coordinating funding application processes, and researching, analyzing, and recommending grant opportunities
  • Coordinating meetings with relevant stakeholders, preparing and distributing meeting agendas, briefing notes, and materials in advance, taking detailed meeting minutes, and sharing the meeting notes and follow-up on action items.
  • Supporting the Director, Strategy & Partnerships, PRiME on contracts and agreements to ensure they are consistent with University policy and standards, and liaising with management to determine goals and priorities
  • Assessing and determining benchmarks and metrics on PRiME programs and initiatives, tracking and collecting information on project progress, coordinating project-related tasks, and generating reports (including preparing annual reports)
  • Keeping well-informed on funding opportunities and resources, application policies/procedures and key deadlines
  • Monitoring program accounts

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three years of combined experience working in operations, administration or research roles supporting initiatives
  • Experience fostering and sustaining relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong experience coordinating project tasks, including planning and implementing project phases
  • Demonstrated experience drafting written documents, including funding proposals and annual reporting documents
  • Experience planning and coordinating small and large events and meetings with high profile attendees
  • Experience in scheduling meeting and taking meeting minutes
  • Working knowledge of grants administration and research funding
  • Proficiency with generating reports for decision making purposes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills to achieve results and to meet critical timelines in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Proven organizational skills, ability to be detail-oriented, and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities, manage multiple projects concurrently, and complete work in required time frames
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, content management system (WordPress)

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Life Sciences is preferred

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 11 — $75,223. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $96,196. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
