Postdoctoral Scholar – Hematology/Oncology

STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under general supervision, plan and carry out research project in accordance with general plans. The Postdoctoral Scholar will perform research work in cancer biology and cellular therapy research to support research studies in the division of Hematology/Oncology at MetroHealth campus. Responsible for laboratory operations with strict adherence to applicable regulations and standards. The candidate will be expected to be a primary author on publications leading from their work.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Our research interest is to study molecular mechanisms of metastasis and therapy resistance of cancer and immune cells for the development of novel therapeutic strategy. Our research takes comprehensive approaches combining cell biology, immunology, chemical genetics, proteomics, single cell transcriptomics, metabolomics, and murine models to uncover underlying therapeutic targets for cancer metastasis and minimal residual disease. Experience in small animal handling, flow cytometry, and FACS analysis is preferred but not essential. They be highly motivated to develop their own research projects with a background in immunology. Exceptional oral and written communications skills are required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in life sciences or related majors or M.D. degree.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The candidate should expect frequent interactions with lab members from that lab and must be willing to collaborate. Major physical demands include being able to process blood in the hood. The individual will be exposed and use to routine laboratory chemicals and solvents, and paraformaldehyde for tissue processing. They will be working with human samples blood and respiratory in the hood. Some work may be in GMP or BSL2+ conditions. After training candidates must be willing and able to work with human specimens.
