| Position Description: | A postdoctoral position is available starting by January 1, 2023, in the laboratory of Dr. Dawn Quelle. The laboratory investigates druggable mechanisms driving neuroendocrine tumor pathogenesis. Current NIH funded projects seek to define the role of RABL6A-PP2A signaling in neuroendocrine tumor progression, metastasis and response to targeted therapy. Studies include analyses of human neuroendocrine tumor specimens for alterations in our pathways, as well as molecular and cell biological analyses in cancer derived cells testing how our genes affect cell biology and drug responsiveness. Complementary in vivo studies are performed using novel genetic knockout mice and xenograft mouse models enabling bioluminescence imaging of tumors. The laboratory is tightly affiliated with the University of Iowa’s NCI designated Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, collaborates extensively with clinical colleagues in surgical oncology, genetics, medical oncology, pathology and tumor imaging, and utilizes exceptional core research facilities. The University of Iowa is located in Iowa City, Iowa, a fun, safe, mid-sized college town in the Midwest of the United States with high living standards and an inexpensive cost of living relative to larger cities. You would be joining a vibrant community of postdoctoral scholars at the University of Iowa who are a vital part of our research community. The Graduate College provides a wide variety of resources that will help you thrive in your research efforts and further develop your professional skills.
