Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL ) Accelerator Technology and Applied Physics Division (ATAP) has openings for Postdoctoral Scholars (Multiple Openings) to join the team.
Berkeley Center for Magnet Technology (BCMT) has designed and built key components of R&D magnet systems for science and engineering programs, providing vital underpinnings for many aspects of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science mission. We are an interdivisional organization managed jointly by the ATAP and the Engineering Divisions of LBNL. With its unique integration of accelerator physicists and magnet researchers, magnet design engineers, and fabrication teams, the center fosters rapid progress in the development, and reliable delivery, of new magnet technology.
In this exciting role, you will work within the ATAP Superconducting Magnet Program (SMP) and your activity will be focused on the development of superconducting magnets for High Energy Physics (HEP), Fusion Energy Science (FES), Nuclear Science (NS) and medical applications. Also, the SMP is an integral part of DOE’s national Magnet Development Program (MDP), whose goal is to advance superconducting accelerator magnet technology for future colliders.
