Offer Description

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Are you looking for a place to develop as a data-driven epidemiologist, deepen your knowledge, and expand your skills? We can offer you a vibrant learning environment, ample opportunity to collaborate with experienced researchers, and freedom to develop your own ideas. At the Clinical Epidemiology Division, one of our research groups focuses on clinical and etiological questions regarding rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other chronic inflammatory diseases. We are now recruiting a postdoc to our team to work with register-based and other studies aiming to improve means for early prediction and diagnosis of RA and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Your mission

The candidate’s work will form part of an international collaboration with a focus on the use of primary care register data for the above-mentioned purpose. The candidate will apply state-of-the-art methods within epidemiology and biostatistics, including data-driven confounding adjustment and prediction modelling using machine learning, to enhance our understanding of the clinical course of RA, its diagnosis and outcomes.

Your profile

The successful candidate has a solid background in epidemiology through a PhD in this area within the last three years, and has previously worked with large scale healthcare data from electronic medical records or registries. Experience of working with primary care data is considered a strong merit, so is experience of working with a clinical quality register. You further have a strong interest, and formal training, in statistical and epidemiological methods. You have strong programming skills in SAS or R, other programming languages are considered a merit. Research experience of chronic diseases in general and inflammatory or rheumatological diseases in particular, is also considered a merit.

As the project is within one of our international collaborations, the successful candidate enjoys working in an interdisciplinary, international team and has excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written. For the same reason, great emphasis is put on personal suitability.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
