About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join Dr Eileen Parkes’ group, in the Department of Oncology. The growing Parkes group comprises established postdoctoral researchers, DPhil students and MSc students. The post holder will support studies of the tumour microenvironment using in vivo and in vitro techniques.
The post holder will work within the group supporting projects on the tumour microenvironment, with their own project focusing on cancer associated fibroblasts. This project will closely investigate cancer cell-fibroblast crosstalk and the mechanisms of cancer-associated fibroblast transformation in vivo and in vitro. In addition, the post holder will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdoctoral researchers, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students.
This is a full time post available on a 8 month contract in the first instance.
About you
You will hold, or be close to completing a relevant PhD/DPhil in cell biology, molecular biology, or another relevant field. Experience in vivo including tumour implantation, bone marrow aspiration, irradiation, drug administration and imaging techniques are essential as well as experience in tissue processing, including use of microtome and immunohistochemistry.
You will also have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations and posses the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation.
