Position Summary:
While at McGill, the objective of the proposed research is to identify the precise function of three essential GTPases in the assembly of the 50S subunit and provide a clear picture for the molecular rearrangements associated with their function. These three essential GTPases from Bacillus subtilis, the model organism for Gram-positive bacteria, are RbgA, YphC and YsxC and constitute key players in the late maturation steps of the 50S ribosome subunit. Other research and teaching related duties may be assigned.
