Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Piezoelectric Paper-Based Devices

University of British Columbia

Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position working jointly between the Stoeber Laboratory  in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Walus Laboratory  in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The position is available immediately and will be funded for 1 year, with the possibility of extension should additional funds become available.

The research project will focus on the development of sensing technology based on our functionalized paper substrates. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and have ideally demonstrated expertise in the design and characterization of piezoelectric sensors, resonant devices and sensor instrumentation and have experience with the practical implementation of sensor signal measurement systems, data acquisition and processing hardware and algorithms. Candidates with additional expertise in environmental sensing technology are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should be capable of independent work and collaborative research working as part of a team in an interdisciplinary research setting. Successful candidates will engage in an active collaboration between the UBC Labs and industry collaborators to develop sensors and demonstration prototypes based on our novel piezoelectric paper substrates and support the continued customization and optimization of these materials by working with the research team.

Interested applicants should submit their curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research interests, and a list of three references with contact information to [email protected] .
