The Centre for Health Resilience and Implementation Science, within the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with strong quantitative research skills to contribute to a range of research projects examining health outcomes and health system performance
THE ROLE

Salary Package: Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A) base salary $97,621 – $104,622, plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro-rata rates apply for part-time appointments.

Appointment type: Full-time or part-time, fixed-term position for 2 years (with the possibility of extension)

The Role
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic candidates with a background in quantitative research, with post-graduate qualifications in public health, epidemiology, psychology or biostatistics. The role involves using your strong quantitative research skills to contribute to a range of research projects examining health outcomes and health system performance.
The successful candidates will be required to:

Have a clear understanding of how to apply various research and statistical methods to health research questions.

Be able to develop statistical models through analysing health data.

Participate in the review of literature and preparation of research manuscripts, presentations and reports

Work both independently and as part of a team, while being able to meet tight deadlines and be able to adapt workloads, as necessary.
About You
We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic researcher, with strong quantitative research skills to participate in an exciting program of research examining health outcomes and health system performance. The role will involve working on two cohort studies of cochlear implant recipients to better understanding of the health, social and education factors that play either a positive or negative role in the lives of adults with a cochlear implant and explore factors that create or hinder resilience. The role will also involve evaluating the impact of different interventions with priority consumer groups within emergency departments.
The successful applicants will be interested in working in a multi-disciplinary team and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders. They will be able to work independently and demonstrate the capacity for critical thinking about research questions.

The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is part of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, and has a successful track record of undertaking research and evaluation projects on health sector issues since 1991. The Centre is involved in conducting research into health outcomes, human factors and resilience, implementation science, complex health interventions, providing a scholarly capability by which to evaluate health sector policies, programs and projects. Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Essential criteria :

PhD in public health, epidemiology, psychology or biostatistics.

Experience with different research designs and data analysis for health research, including statistical modelling experience, ideally working with large health datasets.

Demonstrated research track record of peer-review publications.
-
Advanced computer skills, including use of SAS.
-
Excellent written and oral, inter-personal and team communication skills.

Experience working collaboratively on research projects.
Desirable criteria :
-
Experience in analysing linked health data collections.

Experience analysing health economics data.
