THE ROLE
The School of Engineering at Macquarie University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support multidisciplinary research project with Transport for NSW on internal crack detection in concrete pavements using discrete strain sensors. The successful candidate will support the research of Associate Professor Mohsen Asadnia. and will collaborate with members of his research group.

Experimental modeling of crack propagation in concrete pavements

Developing and applying wireless sensors for structural health monitoring and control
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will contribute to and undertake research and development in the chemical sensory system development field. You will need to have a PhD in Civil, Mechanical, or Electronic Engineering with relevant experience. will be expected to conduct research in chemical sensors. You will demonstrate a strong track record in research and make a significant contribution to the research and/or Scholarship and administrative activities of the School, Faculty and University.

Essential Criteria

A PhD in Civil, Mechanical, Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline

Demonstrated commitment and success in delivering high-quality and innovative research

Experience in Concrete structural health monitoring

Strong written and oral communication skills

Proven ability to interact effectively with students, staff, industry and the community

Ability to assist supervising postgraduate students
Salary Package: Level A Step 6 (PhD) from $$97,621 – $104,622 p.a., plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading
Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed term for 1 year, with a possibility of renewal for two more subsequent years subject to funding.
