Postdoctoral Research Fellow

• Academic Level A or B plus 17% superannuation

About the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to engage in multidisciplinary research in knowledge transformation and the effective use of information assets in both public and private sector organisations. This position will have access to a multidisciplinary team of research experts including social scientists, database researchers, business experts, computer scientists, mathematicians, and information systems researchers.  The Postdoctoral Fellow will engage in the process of forming new research projects, collaborate with technology companies, and actively contribute to publishing research outcomes.

The position is supported by the Australian Research Council’s Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Information Resilience and in close collaboration with the University of Queensland. The Centre aims to build workforce capacity in Australian organisations to create, protect and sustain agile data pipelines, capable of detecting and responding to failures and risks across the information value chain in which the data is sourced, shared, transformed, analysed, and consumed.

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below essential accountabilities:

• Demonstrated track record of publishing in high-quality conferences and journals
• Experience in quantitative research and data-driven research projects
• Experience in data analysis, including data extraction, data cleaning and harmonization.
• High level of clear oral and written communication skills in dealing with contacts in the outside university environment.

In addition, the following skills and experiences are highly preferable for this role.

• Experience in working with artificial intelligence platforms, natural language processing and  graph databases
• Experience in working with social and urban data from public platforms such as ABS, AURIN and Data.Gov.AU

 

Qualifications
Doctoral qualification or near completion of PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related data intensive field.
