Postdoctoral Research Associate, School of Data Science

The lab of Professor Alexander Gates, together with the School of Data Science at the University of Virginia, is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the area of network science, computational social science, and the science of science. As part of a small research team, the postdoc will help lead efforts to provide a quantitative model for the diffusion of academic policy and its influences on education & research.

 

The ideal candidates will have a PhD in a discipline closely related to computational social science by date of appointment (e.g. network science, data science, sociology, computer science, economics, management, or related fields). We seek applicants with strong statistical skills, experience with managing large datasets, and fluency with commonly used scientific scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, or R). We also seek candidates with good communication skills in spoken and written English, and an ability to produce state-of-the art research.

 

This is a one year term limited position with the possibility of renewal based on funding and satisfactory performance.
