Postdoctoral Research Associate in Food Science and Technology

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher for the Agricultural Research Station, College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state’s peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia’s second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately for two-three years for a project on food quality issues with pecans at the Agricultural Research Station under the College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology, FVSU. The postdoctoral research associate will be part of a research team to enhance food safety in pecan processing. The postdoctoral research associate will have opportunities working with USDA-ARS scientists. The incumbent will conduct experiments, analyze data, prepare reports, and submit manuscripts in a timely fashion for project and peer-reviewed publications, train, and mentor graduate students, and assist with proposal writing. Experience working outside of laboratory settings or field work will be beneficial.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology or a closely related field. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in flavor/analytical chemistry (GC-MS, GC-Olfactometry, HPLC, etc.), publication records, communication skills, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team-based environment.
