About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a project relating to the future of the Great Barrier Reef. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Associate Professor Ana Vila-Concejo from the Geocoastal Research Group, Marine Studies Institute, and School of Geosciences. This role is part of a project recently funded by the Australian Research Council to establish open-source numerical models to quantify the eco-morphodynamic evolution of the Great Barrier Reef under IPCC climate-change scenarios.
Your key responsibilities will be to:

undertake research developing eco-morphodynamic models for coral reefs
-
publish research papers
-
demonstrate research excellence
-
assist with project coordination and management
-
assist with grant writing and publishing original work
-
support teaching activities and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
This ARC funded project is an international collaboration with the University of Auckland (Professor Giovanni Coco) and the University of Cantabria (Professor Fernando Méndez). The partners at the University of Sydney include Professor Maria Byrne and Dr Tristan Salles. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be based within the Geocoastal Research Group at the School of Geoscience at the University of Sydney.

About you

a PhD (or near completion) in Science or Engineering and equivalent combination of training and experience.

a strong track record of publishing their research

a demonstrated ability to complete work in a timely fashion and to write up results for publication.
