To learn more, please visit our websiteWhat we wantThe Postdoctoral Fellow provides skilled laboratory, administrative and managerial support in research. Performs independent research activities (design, organize and conduct experiments), summarizing findings and writing manuscripts, contributing to grant development, supervision/training of other laboratory personnel (e.g. students), helping students in their own projects to advance the goals of the group, and assuming responsibility for general operation of the laboratory (ordering supplies, calibrating equipment).What you need to knowCompensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.Required Education and Experience:Appropriate PhDRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Highly motivated individual with demonstrated background in virology (preferably RNA viruses).Demonstrated ability to do independent research.Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English.Basic computer skills (word processing, Power point, statistical analysis).Fundamental knowledge of virology, molecular biology and immunology.Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic cell culture techniques.Ability to use basic laboratory equipment.Preferred Qualifications:PhD in VirologyHands on research experience in basic laboratory techniques of virology, molecular biology and immunology including tissue culture, PCR, qPCR, cloning, protein expression, Western analysis, immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, CRISPR technology, confocal microscopy, FACS, RNAseq, Co-IP, ChIP, RNAscope next generation sequencing etc. Grant writing experienceStrong track record of peer-reviewed first author publications.Advanced computer skills (Bioinformatics).Responsibilities:Research: Designs, organizes and conducts experiments, summarizes findings and writes manuscripts, contributes to grant development.Laboratory management: Orders supplies, calibrates equipment, monitors and refills liquid nitrogen and CO2 cylindersAssistance: Trains other laboratory personnel (e.g. students), help students in their own projects.
