The E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Hull invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work on analysis and observations of pulsars and fast radio bursts. This is a full-time three-year appointment at the University’s Band 6 level and is available from as early as April 2024. The successful candidate will work on the STFC-funded project EMO-GP: Emission Mechanisms of Giant Pulses under the direction of Dr. James McKee and in partnership with the University of Toronto and the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics.

The successful candidate will lead the development of a giant pulse monitoring campaign with the CHIME radio telescope and carry out analysis of existing large data sets taken with the Parkes Murriyang, Giant Metre-Wave Radio Telescope, and Green Bank Radio Telescopes. The candidate will also be encouraged to develop their own research projects in pulsars and fast radio transients in collaboration with the project partners. Applicants should have a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field. Demonstrable expertise in analysis of pulsar and/or fast radio burst observational data (e.g., PSRCHIVE, dspsr, sigproc) will be required, and experience with radio telescope software backends is highly desirable.

As part of the application, please include your CV, a summary of your interests and potential collaborative research plans for the coming 2-3 years in your application.
