About the Role

The Post-doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) will contribute to the study “Capturing loneliness across youth: Co-production of a new developmentally sensitive scale” taking place in the Youth Resilience Unit. They will be specifically involved in collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data using open science principles.

About You

The PDRA will work closely with another post-doctoral researcher at the University of Manchester and together, expected to prepare scientific publications and non-academic reports to disseminate results from the programme of research.

Applicants should be qualified and experienced in data collection and analysis in a mental health research programme and study focused on young people. The successful candidate should demonstrate a clear potential to facilitate and support the planning, organisation, and implementation of research, including experience with working in a research team, recruiting participants and conducting quantitative data analysis. They should also be familiar with open science principles.

About the Institute

The Youth Resilience Unit (YRU) is a part of the Centre for Psychiatry & Mental Health at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health. The YRU hosts several research programmes that focus on understanding factors that contribute towards poor mental health across development and on the development and evaluation of early interventions to foster resilience and well-being.

The Centre for Psychiatry and Mental Health plays a key role in the development and delivery of undergraduate medical education (MBBS course) and other undergraduate courses at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).

The post is based at the academic unit at Newham General Hospital in London. It is a full time (approximately 35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for three years, with an expected start date in November 2022 (or soon after). Depending on experience, the starting salary will be at Grade 4, £35,775 per annum (pro-rata) or Grade 5, £39,815 inclusive of London Allowance.
