Postdoc opening for Bajwa Lab
in Transplant Research Institute

A Postdoctoral Fellow
position is available in Dr. Amandeep Bajwa lab, Department of Surgery, University
of Tennessee Health Science Center. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct
studies on use of mitochondria in various models of liver and kidney diseases.  Our work uses cell culture and pre-clinical
models (mice) to address hypotheses regarding the complex links between oxidative
stress, ischemia and mitochondria.  Our
research group includes three main areas (Molecular, Cellular and
Translational) that share common interest in the area of transplantation.   This postdoctoral
fellow is expected to think independently to design and plan experiments,
problem solve, and be technically skilled in typical molecular techniques, with
essential expertise in mouse models and cell culture. Knowledge of flow
cytometry, immunohistochemistry, rodent pre-clinical models and renal and liver
ischemic injury surgical models are crucial.

The postdoctoral fellow is
expected to apply for grants with the mentoring support, complete first and
co-author manuscripts and present findings at local and national meetings. Applicants
with lead publications in top scientific journals and presentations at national
conferences will be highly favored for the position.

Exceptional oral and written
skills are required

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in molecular biology,
biochemistry, immunology,  or similar, with >2 years
of experience required.
