Postdoctoral Fellow Research Position – Acute Stroke and TBI

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Bethesda, MD and surrounding area

Investigating acute stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A particular focus of the ACDU is understanding blood-brain and blood-meningeal barrier injury through use of dynamic imaging markers.
Equipment available in the NIH MRI Research Facility includes 3T and 7T human scanners, and animal scanners at 4.7T, 7T, 9.4T, and 11.7T. The ACDU has a history of working closely with NIH Clinical Center Radiology and Rehabilitation Medicine with opportunity for further collaboration.

Qualifications:

Individuals must hold a doctoral degree (PhD and/or MD) or be in the final stages of achieving their degree and have no more than five years of relevant research experience since receipt of their most recent doctoral degree. Related areas of interest can include neurology, radiology, neuroradiology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. Previous work experience with structural MRI techniques, including diffusion MRI and perfusion MRI would be considered an asset. Familiarity with one or more programming or scripting language such as MATLAB, Python, or R, and with existing neuroimaging tools such as FreeSurfer and AFNI is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
