About the position
A postdoctoral fellowship (SKO 1352) is available at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies (ILN), University of Oslo. The position is funded by the Faculty of Humanities and is linked to the research environment in Norwegian as a second language (NOAS). At ILN, Norwegian as a second language is understood broadly, and embraces, among other things, second- and third-language acquisition and use, and multilingualism in a lifespan perspective.
The applicant must submit an individual research project proposal within the field of second language research. Projects that contribute to further developing second language research at the intersection of research and practice, with clear relevance for education, work or other social domains, are encouraged.
The appointment is for a duration of four years. The position includes a 25% teaching and administration component distributed evenly over the four years. The teaching is related to various courses within the NOAS program at ILN, especially in courses that deal with second language teaching, learning and assessment. The language of instruction is Norwegian. It is expected that the applicant acquires basic pedagogical competence (UNIPED certificate) during the job period.
The successful candidate is expected to become part of the NOAS academic environment and contribute to its development. The main purpose of postdoctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.
