The IU Center for the Study of Global Change is a hub of internationalization that fosters innovative partnerships and interdisciplinary initiatives to tackle pressing global problems in ways that meet its core values of global engagement, understanding, and responsibility. As a U.S. Department of Education designated National Resource Center, the Global Center makes a systematic, sustained effort to infuse global perspectives into learning at all levels, from pre-kindergarten through graduate school and beyond.
The Randall L. and Deborah F. Tobias Center for Innovation in International Development provides support to research, teaching, and professional development activities related to the study and practice of international development. It also connects scholars and students of development to leaders in government, business, and civil society to foster better understanding of how to facilitate sustainable pathways to shared prosperity.
This post-doctoral position will contribute to a growing strength in teaching and research on sustainable development studies in an international context at Indiana University. The post-doctoral fellow will maintain an active research agenda in the area of international development. Responsibilities include teaching two international development-related courses per year; working in collaboration with the Tobias Center for Innovation in International Development conducting to organize a conference on Sustainable Development to be held in 2025 and draft a resulting white paper; and, in collaboration with and mentorship from the Center for the Study of Global Change, coordinating and participating in K-16 educator professional development events on issues related to internationalizing curricula through teaching international development-related content. Appointment will begin August 1, 2024.
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in a relevant field (including but not limited to international studies, anthropology, area studies, political science, sociology, and education), with all requirements completed by August 1, 2024. Research addressing international development and sustainable development. Experience teaching undergraduate courses and interest in pedagogy. Background in multi-method research designs, and especially those that combine qualitative and quantitative techniques.
