Position Overview

The School of Built Environment at Massey University is the premier provider of built environment higher education in New Zealand and beyond. Whilst fully embracing its strengths in learning and teaching, the School has also been making its mark in built environment research. The School has been awarded a major 5-year research grant from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment in New Zealand totalling $ 9.9M to improve the construction industry in New Zealand. The School is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to take up the role of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Construction Management to strengthen its dynamic and rapidly growing team.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the research activities of the School of Built Environment including in the above mentioned MBIE funded research programme entitled “Creating Capacity and Capability for the New Zealand Construction Sector”.

Are you the high calibre of candidate we are looking for?

In this appointment, you will be expected to contribute to research and academic citizenship activities in the School. You will have a strong background in construction and facilities management as well as in the implementation of IT/advanced technologies in the digital built environment space. In addition to strong publication track record, previous experience in preparing competitive grants proposal is desirable.

Key Success factors include:

  • Active participation in research programme and contribution to the ongoing research activities in Construction Management or a related topic.
  • Data collection, analysis and dissemination of research findings through publishing papers and other scholarly works in academic journals, books and other appropriate media.
  • Present research and participate at national and international academic conferences.

This particular position is for a fixed term of 3 years full time and requires a PhD qualification (or very close to completion) and is based at the Auckland campus.
