Description of Work Unit The Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology (MIP) Department is comprised of over 400 individuals who share a common passion for solving some of the most important human and animal health problems today. Research programs include those related to mycobacteria, retroviruses, prions, zoonotic and arthropod-borne infectious diseases, as well as the diagnostic investigation of naturally-occurring animal diseases. A leader in education, MIP provides the only microbiology undergraduate degree program in Colorado, a graduate program that provides training in a number of cutting-edge disciplines, and several specialized veterinary residency training programs.
Position Summary Wonderful opportunity to be a part of a lab that contributes to fighting the worldwide AIDS epidemic and finding the ultimate cure at Colorado State University in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado. This postdoc position will use cutting edge virology and immunology techniques as well as gaining experience working with new generation humanized mouse models for research on HIV/AIDS pathogenesis, evolution, latency, and prevention therapies. This represents a unique opportunity to conduct molecular/translational virology research using humanized mice, Illumina-based deep sequencing and analysis, real time qRT-PCR assays, flow cytometry, stem cells, and latency detection. This position will provide valuable experience for a future in either academia and/or industry.
We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoc to lead virology and immunology related in vivo projects with an emphasis on HIV/SIV evolution and latency. The postdoc will independently and collaboratively conduct experiments in HIV detection and pathogenesis, Illumina-based deep sequencing, and pre/post exposure prophylaxis studies. Required Job Qualifications
  • Applicants must hold a PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD/PhD or DVM/PhD in the areas of microbiology and/or immunology.
  • Demonstrated experience with flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, and other basic molecular virology and immunology techniques.
