Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. The Center for Population Behavioral Health within the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IFH) (https://ifh.rutgers.edu) invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow. The successful candidate will contribute to National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded etiological and clinical research on youth and young adult substance use, with a focus on variation by race/ethnicity and gender in pathways of risk and substance use outcomes. The primary projects include an investigation of multi-level cultural and environmental factors that protect against or elevate risk for substance use in Black and Latinx youth, based on the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study longitudinal data. Other projects involve secondary analyses of a large randomized clinical trial testing mechanisms of behavior change for an alcohol text message intervention in young adults, and analyses of Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) and phone sensor (e.g., GPS) data collected in relation to self-reported episodes of alcohol or cannabis use from young adults. The postdoctoral research fellow will be jointly supervised by Drs. Carolyn Sartor and Tammy Chung. Among the key duties of this position are the following: The incumbent will contribute to specific research projects at the Center that address substance use among youth and young adults, with a focus on addressing racial/ethnic health disparities. Duties include but are not limited to conducting data analyses, drafting manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at professional conferences. When called upon, the incumbent will contribute to the development of research proposals. The incumbent will be given the opportunity to advance her/his individual line of research inquiry, aligned with the Center’s research priorities. The incumbent will also be expected to actively participate in mentorship activities and take advantage of educational/learning opportunities within the Rutgers academic community.

Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	PhD in psychology, psychiatric epidemiology, public health, or a related field and relevant research experience are required in order to conduct analyses for the research project(s). The successful candidate should have strong quantitative skills that would enable her/him to develop a strong peer- reviewed publication record using data available through the Center (e.g., ABCD Study data sets) and within IFH.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Strong data analysis skills are integral to this position including, for example, experience working with large, population-level data sets (using SAS, SPSS, Stata, and/or R), longitudinal analysis of health-related outcomes (e.g., event history analysis), multilevel modeling, and methods to handle complex survey sampling and missing data.
