Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Center for Cell Signaling within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. The current focus of the Hou lab is to understand the anti-KRAS therapy resistance
mechanisms in pancreatic cancer and engineer tumor-associated cells to improve disease control. This position will use in vivo mouse models to dissect the role of tumor microenvironment in regulating tumor response to KRAS inhibitors and use the knowledge to develop novel cell therapies. The PI will fully support the postdoctoral appointee to apply fellowships, seed grants, travel awards and career development grants.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Conducts multidisciplinary research in cancer biology and immunology with a focus on the discovery of therapy resistance-associated cells in tumor microenvironment and the development of innate immune cell therapy for cancer.
  • Participates in experimental design and carries out experiments including animal surgeries.
  • Operates and maintains experimental equipment.
  • Records and analyzes data from experiments.
  • Maintains a proper data notebook pursuant to the standards of the Department and the PI.
  • Contributes to the intellectual development of the project.
  • Submits proposal for postdoctoral fellowship funding.
  • Prepares manuscripts and grant proposals based on the research conducted.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research.

Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related areas.
  • Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture and/or mouse work.
  • Candidates in all but dissertation (ABD) status will also be considered.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Have first authored publications.
  • Experience with studies in cancer biology, cell engineering, immunology and/or biochemistry.
  • Effective skills in oral and written communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of R software and bioinformatics for transcriptomic analysis.
