Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
A postdoc position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate in the group of Subhajyoti De at Rutgers University Cancer Institute in NJ, USA.
The postdoctoral fellow in the group of Dr. De will be involved in cancer research at Rutgers, and in this role will advance knowledge for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer. Dr. De’s group has particular interest in cancer evolution, cancer progression, and treatment, and the candidate is expected to contribute in one or more of these areas. There will be opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary team both in clinical and research settings on a variety of high impact, cutting edge projects. The candidate should have a PhD in a relevant science. Preferred: PhD in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, computational, statistical or mathematical sciences. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions. The group will be located in the Rutgers University Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, NJ, which is within easy commuting distance from both New York City and Philadelphia via public transit. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Perform research for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer in the settings of basic and translational research. 
  • Write publications and reports of the research.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research at seminars and meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD in a relevant science. Preferred: PhD in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, computational, statistical, mathematical sciences, or related areas.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates who have experience working with next generation sequencing datasets, integrative analysis of large datasets, and running software on a cluster.
  • Exposure to cancer genomics data

  • Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.

  • Primarily working with computers. Laboratory environment. Moderate noise.
  • Potential exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic or hazardous molecules and possible exposure to infectious and communicable pathogens.
  • Universal precautions are mandatory.
