Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the Neurosurgery Department, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Yong Kim.
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct molecular and cellular neuroscience studies using animal or cellular models of Alzheimer’s disease or neurodegenerative diseases. Particularly, the researcher will focus on the identification of key molecular factors and their pathways in neurons and non-neuronal cells such as vascular endothelial cells, and their roles in the control of neuronal activity, survival, and circuit homeostasis, using cell type-specific approaches.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Possess a strong neuroscience background with a particular interest in neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Extensive experience with mouse genetics, managing, immunohistology, imaging, molecular biology, and learning and
    memory-related behavior testing.
  • Ability to work independently.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. degree in biomedical or biological science with high motivation toward basic neuroscience research.
  • Candidates must have a strong research background in at least one of the following research areas: Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience (particularly, studies of Alzheimer’s disease or neurodegenerative diseases), Molecular Biology or/and Cell Biology, Genomics, and/or Proteomics.

  • Ability to independently perform experiments, data processing/analysis.
  • Excellent time-management, written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing. Experience working in a fast-paced environment. No special vision requirements. Lifting to 25lbs.
