General Notes
The successful applicant will have the freedom to propose a specific research project, which could be an extension of their PhD research, and will also include collaboration with Dr. Kevin Clarno and other core faculty of the Oden Institute and in the Nuclear and Radiation Engineering program to develop new research opportunities associated with nuclear reactor multiphysics, digital twin, and uncertainty quantification methods development for HPC hardware through the use of VERA , MOOSE , and/or Shift .
Responsibilities
The position responsibilities include conducting independent research, mentoring of students in the research group, publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, and support to faculty on writing research grant proposals. The start-date for this position is flexible, so an applicant that currently holds another post-doctoral position is invited to apply.
Required Qualifications
The requirements for this position include:
- a PhD in nuclear engineering, computational science, or related field that was completed no earlier than December 2019;
- a track record of innovation in computational science and engineering, as demonstrated with a strong publication history;
- an ability to contribute to interdisciplinary research efforts in the areas of computational engineering, computational and applied mathematics, and/or uncertainty quantification;
- the ability to obtain source code access to export controlled nuclear software, including VERA.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have experience with methods and software development for radiation transport, conjugate heat transfer, or computational chemistry, along with experience using modern software development practices, facilities, object-oriented programming.
Salary Range
$72,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Work in an academic research environment.
May work in field environments.
