Salary range: The UC postdoc salary scales set the minimum pay determined by experience level at appointment. The current minimum salary range for this position is
$64,480 – $77,327. Salaries above the minimum may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Anticipated start: May 27 – August 21, 2024 (depending on PhD completion date)
Position duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability

The Terner Center is focused on identifying ambitious, yet pragmatic solutions to today’s most pressing housing challenges, supported by rigorous, action-oriented research. Our success is measured in part by the extent to which our ideas, research, and solutions influence dialogue, decision-making, and practice among policymakers and private sector leaders. With a focus on high-cost regions and solutions that can help address their unique challenges, the Terner Center pursues ideas that can help expand the supply of housing and lower the cost of production; increase access to homes and opportunity-rich communities for people across the income spectrum; align housing and climate change priorities; and improve the outcomes of major housing policies and programs through rigorous impact assessment.
The Terner Center for Housing Innovation invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position. The Terner Center, housed at UC Berkeley, is a leading policy research institution focused on advancing evidence-driven solutions to the nation’s housing and homelessness crises.
We are currently recruiting for post-docs in three areas:
The ideal candidates will have a strong interest in conducting applied research that is responsive to current policy debates in housing and who seek to grow their skills in translating research for policy impact. Post-doctoral scholars will devote 80% time working on Terner research projects, conducted jointly with faculty members, research staff, and graduate students. The remaining 20% of time will be available for the successful applicant’s own research. In addition to salary, the Terner Center will provide the postdoc with $4,000 to attend academic or professional conferences.
This position is in-person at UC Berkeley and requires being in the Terner office 2-3 days a week.
