The post-doctor position is to support the health policy and systems research program led by Prof. Shenglan Tang at Duke Global Health Institute. S/he is expected to participate in, among others, one project on financing and organization of vaccine and immunization service delivery in China, funded by the Gates Foundation. This position is also seen as means to train young researchers working in this area of health system reform, with a special reference of financing of healthcare in China and the region.
We are looking for a scholar with expertise in strengthening health systems and health economics, and quantitative methods to support all research aspects of health sector reform in developing countries.
This is a 100% grant funded position that has a one-year term limit with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance.
DEFINITION:
The Postdoctoral Appointee holds a PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g. ScD, MD, DVM).
The successful candidate will support all research aspects of health sector reform in developing countries, particularly in Asian countries, with a special focus on the quantitative aspects of the study. Duties include, but are not limited to, literature review, quantitative data collection and analysis, writing manuscripts for peer-review, supervising students, and development of new research project grant application. This position will be supervised by Shenglan Tang, Mary & James Semans Professor of Medicine and Global Health.
Candidates must hold a PhD in public health, or health economics, or a related discipline and have expertise in quantitative methods. Familiarity with R, or a willingness to quickly get up to speed in R, is required. Candidates must have research interests in religion and/or education.
