Postdocs in Applied machine learning for industrial applications

The Department of Electronics Design is situated at Campus Sundsvall. In addition to its research activities, it offers courses and programmes in the subjects Electronics, Electrical engineering and Sound production. The research of the department is conducted at the research centre STC (Sensible Things that Communicate, www.miun.se/stc ).

Description:
We offer four postdoctoral positions in applied machine learning for industrial applications. The positions can have a focus on one of the following areas deep learning in image analysis, deep learning for audio analysis, deep learning of process data, as well as implementation of machine learning on embedded systems. The positions are linked to collaborating research groups with activities in condition monitoring, sound analysis and image analysis as well as embedded systems. The research in all positions is carried out in close collaboration with national and international partners in both industry and academia.

The focus of the positions lies within the three areas of industrial condition monitoring, deep learning for the characterization and positioning of sound, and deep learning for the characterization and positioning of objects in image information. The positions may also include implementation aspects of machine learning models on embedded systems. The work can be experimental and theoretical in nature and include data collection, development and verification of models, and generalization of solutions.

Requirements and assessment:
To qualify for employment as a postdoctoral fellow, you must hold a doctorate or an equivalent foreign degree in a relevant research field. Your degree must not be older than 5 years from the end of the application period: But, for example, sick leave and/or parental leave can be deducted from the five-year period (see Mid Sweden University Employment Procedures ).

For this position, you are required to have a PhD in electronics, electrical engineering, computer engineering or a related field and have previous academic experience in machine learning.

Active participation and collaboration within the research group is necessary. It is therefore important that you are a responsible person with a holistic view, that you can communicate freely both orally and in writing in English and that you are structured in your way of working.

Type of employment and start date:
Temporary employment, 24 months, full-time 100%, access according to agreement.
