Job description
Are you eager to contribute to boosting regional innovation in different countries? Are you interested in ecosystem development and passionate about doing this in collaboration with international partners? Then we are looking for you to support our team as a Postdoc for 2,5 years in the Horizon Europe project ‘Coordinating and piloting actions towards ERA-Hubs as inter- and intraregional ecosystems for knowledge production’ (COOPERATE) that aims at developing and testing a new ecosystem concept.
The pandemics and the current geopolitical scenario confirm the critical role of research in addressing our societal challenges and emerging threats, with research and innovation (R&I) and an agile industry as critical pillars to driving competitiveness and achieving strategic autonomy while preserving an open economy. R&I ecosystems are playing an increasingly important role in addressing such challenges, but we still lack both knowledge and tools to develop such ecosystems. We are looking for a Postdoc who can take a leading role in our project ‘Coordinating and piloting actions towards ERA-Hubs as inter- and intraregional ecosystems for knowledge production’ (COOPERATE) that aims at developing and testing a new ecosystem concept in support of the European Commission’s strategy to boost regional innovation in the European Research Area (ERA).
The overall objective of the COOPERATE project is to develop and pilot the ERA Hub concept based on the vision and success stories developed within the EuroTech Universities Alliance and their R&I ecosystems, supporting the future rollout of a pan-European ERA Hubs network. The aim is to help regions play a greater part in coordinating R&D policies and investments in member states. The ERA Hubs could support organizations and people to bring together different stakeholders, join public and private spheres and break existing silos.
TU/e is the lead partner of COOPERATE. Other consortium partners are Brainport Development, Technical University of Denmark, Science City Lyngby, Czech Technical University, STAM Srl, and IDEA Consult. Together with the TU/e-team, consisting of, amongst others Professor dr. Marcel Bogers , Assistant Professor dr. Arjan Markus , and Departmental Fellow dr. Rianne Valkenburg , you will manage the project and develop the ERA Hub framework using an ecosystem lens.
As a successful applicant, you will (1) manage the project and consortium partners, (2) develop the ERA Hub Framework building on the ecosystem approach, (3) write a project handbook, (4) develop a data management plan, and (5) publish academic articles with your research team. You will apply various research methods, including interviewing, systematic literature reviews, focus groups, and workshops, to design a detailed ecosystem-based ERA Hub model.
The postdoc will be located in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing (ITEM) group and will work closely with Professor Bogers , dr. Markus , and dr. Valkenburg .
The postdoc will benefit from the strong industry relationships of the consortium within the Eindhoven region and other European areas and the use cases specified. These will facilitate interviews and access to stakeholders and data and help ensure the research’s practical relevance. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to interact closely with other researchers working on different aspects of intra- and interregional ecosystems for knowledge production.
