Postdoc in Computational Neurogenomics, Huang and Khoshkhoo Labs

Huang Lab at Boston Children's Hospital

Job Details

The laboratories of Dr. August Yue Huang in the Division of Genetics and Genomics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School and Dr. Sattar Khoshkhoo in the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School are jointly seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with a passion for computational biology and neurogenomics. The positions offer a minimal annual salary of $70,000 and are adjustable based on research experience.

The mission of the Huang Lab is to pioneer innovative computational approaches for studying somatic mutations across diverse sequencing technologies and to leverage these technologies for a deeper understanding of the roles and mechanisms of somatic mutations in the human genome. The Khoshkhoo Lab has an experimental focus with the mission to examine the contribution of somatic mosaicism in healthy human brain development and in neurologic diseases and collaborates with the Huang lab for the analysis of their high throughput genetic and genomic experiments.

Our research directions relevant to this position include 1) Developing novel computational tools to identify and characterize somatic mutations from multi-omic sequencing data (Nucleic Acids Res, 2026; bioRxiv, 2025; Acta Neuropathol, 2024; Genom Proteom Bioinf, 2020); 2) Understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of somatic mutations in neurologic diseases to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment (Cell, accepted; Nat Genet, accepted; bioRxiv, 2026; Science, 2025; PNAS, 2025; Nature, 2022); and 3) Investigating the mechanisms underlying selective enrichment of somatic mutations in various human tissues and their functional impact on transcriptome and epigenome (ResearchSquare, 2025; bioRxiv, 2025; Nat Aging, 2022; PNAS, 2020). For more information, please check our websites https://www.augusthuanglab.org/ and https://www.khoshkhoolab.com/.

Candidate qualifications include:

  • PhD and/or MD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or other related fields.
  • Experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis and cluster/cloud computing.
  • Proficiency in variant calling, single-cell DNA and/or RNA analysis, and machine/deep learning (preferred but not required).
  • Strong programming and statistical skills (e.g., Python, Perl, R, Bash).
  • Track record of first-author original research papers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

To apply, please send a cover letter describing your research interests along with your CV and contact information of three references to [email protected] and [email protected]
