In the current context of the knowledge society, it is expected that several university campuses in the cities of São Paulo state (Brazil) will undergo a process of transformation in the coming decades, with the installation, in their surroundings, of research and development institutes, innovation hubs and companies. technology-based. These new urban areas of knowledge will demand a series of equipment and infrastructure, such as housing, services, sanitation, and free spaces for public use, among others. Given its location, typically in urban fringe areas, at the interface with agricultural areas, fragments of natural forests and other preexistences generally disconnected from consolidated urban areas, and due to the current scenario of climate change, destruction of ecosystems, and economic crisis, this transformation will face several challenges, requiring new urban planning methods and tools.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the PD fellow will join the Center for Studies on Knowledge and Innovation-based Urban Development (CEUCI) at the State University of Campinas – one of the Science for Development Centers supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) – with the aim of developing research related to these issues, being able to focus on a sub-area aligned with their previous training and experience.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
