The Department of Communication, Media and Film in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Food Marketing, Policy and Children’s Health.
Job Description:
Seeking an exceptional, hard-working and outcomes-oriented postdoctoral scholar to advance two related grant projects on food marketing, policy and children’s health. Reporting to the PI, the PDS will develop a monitoring protocol for tracking child-targeted foods, execute and coordinate data collection, engage in data cleaning, and develop manuscripts of the data. The successful applicant will also conduct relevant literature reviews and engage in grant preparation/writing related to the project. Analysis/manuscript drafting of an already collected dataset on teen-teen-targeted food marketing will also be involved.
Qualifications:
• PhD in health sciences, health communication, public health or closely related field, completed within the last 5 years (or will be complete upon PDS start date)
• Strong track record of scholarly activities including publication of research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations
• Professional; self-driven and outcomes oriented
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly as evidenced via public health journal publications
• Demonstrated experience with grant preparation/writing
• Experience in content analysis
• Track record of excellence (demonstrated outcomes in quantitative or qualitative analysis)
• Must be a strong team player, and able to work within a collaborative setting with others to set clear priorities while managing multiple timelines and objectives
