Post Doctoral Scholar

Department:
Engineering Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) Translational Therapeutics Team and Center for Cancer Engineering, in partnership with the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The fellow will work primarily with Dr. Blaise Kimmel on research related to the development of a fully modular enzyme scaffold platform where engineered single domains are linked in vitro  for  high-throughput synthesis and evaluation of small-molecule candidates for immunomodulation. Opportunities are available for interdisciplinary mentoring and training in other related research areas within engineering, immunology, and microbiology as our faculty expertise and institutional resources range from bench-top science to population-level policy and regulation.

Training will be individualized for the fellow to develop technological experience, but also to provide leadership opportunities and training tailored to the fellow’s research interests. In addition to individualized mentoring, the fellow will have opportunities to take part in seminars and workshops that will provide training in preparing research grant applications, exploring career paths within STEM, teaching opportunities and workshops, and outreach to the university and Columbus community.

The fellow will be part of an interdisciplinary research team and will gain experience leading experiments focused on in vitro and in vivo laboratory research, conducting and overseeing data collection, professional writing, and research communication. The fellow will also receive support and be encouraged to develop their own grant applications (e.g., F series, K series, or institutional research grants).

Initial appointment will be for 1 year, with renewal for subsequent year(s) contingent on progress and available resources to support continued training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Doctoral degree in Oncology and Cancer Biology in an appropriate discipline is required.
