The Institute for Economic and Social History at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen invites applications for the position of a
post-doctoral researcher and lecturer
to be employed from October 1, 2024 (or as soon as possible). The full-time position (currently 39.8 hours per week) is initially available for 3 years; an extension is desired. The salary is defined according to the German E13 TV-L scale for public sector employees. Part-time employment can be considered. The position encourages researchers to develop a second-book project (Habilitation).
Duties:
The position involves teaching and participation in the administrative tasks and research activities of the Institute. The development of a post-doctoral research project (Habilitation) is expected.
Conditions of employment:
Successful candidates have written an excellent dissertation on a pertinent topic, or are close to finishing a dissertation (with an excellent masters’ degree already completed) in economic and social history or a neighboring discipline. Profound knowledge of the economic and social history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is expected, as well as fluency in English and at least intermediate German language skills. Candidates should be able to teach in German after their first year.
