The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for two year postdoctoral position(s) with possible extension to a third year subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance. The expected start date is August 16, 2023. 
This opening is in Discrete Mathematics aligning with research interests of Prof. Steve Butler , Prof. Ryan Martin , or Prof. Bernard Lidický .  This includes combinatorial matrix theory, spectral graph theory, graph perturbation, extremal poset theory, graph and hypergraph metric spaces, extremal graph theory, graph coloring, or flag algebras. 
The position has a 2-1 teaching load and a requirement to be involved with mentoring undergraduate students in research through the Iowa State Math Research Teams (ISMaRT, https://sites.google.com/view/ismart-iastate ).

Required Minimum Qualifications:  

  •  PhD in Mathematics or a closely related discipline obtained by appointment date. 
  •  Research interests in Discrete Mathematics as described above.

  • Demonstrated commitment to scholarship, with the ability to establish a viable research program 
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
