Offer Description

A post-doctoral position is open for the project “Territories of Water: Program for the Conservation and Restoration of Permanent Preservation Areas in the Municipality of São Paulo”. The project proposes the elaboration of a Program for the Conservation and Recovery of Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) in the Municipality of São Paulo (Brazil), through a partnership between the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), the Department of Greenery and the Environment of the Municipality of São Paulo (SVMA) and the National Observatory for the Rights to Water and Sanitation (Ondas).

The project aims to trigger a process of innovation in approaches to PPAs in municipal public policies. In this way, we are looking for outstanding candidates with scientific independence to build a proposal for a typology of PPAs, based on a characterization of their phytophysiognomy, on the social aspects of watersheds and on restoration and conservation methods and parameters. The selected scholar will also contribute to the analysis of existing interventions in PPAs in the municipality, as well as surveying new demands and consolidated guidelines in green and sectoral plans.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 9,047.40 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
