Summary of Job Duties:
We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill a collaborative postdoctoral position in the field of Crop Entomology/ Chemical Ecology with Dr. Rupesh Kariyat (https://enpl.uark.edu/people/faculty/uid/rkariyat/name/Rupesh+Kariyat/) lab in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University of Arkansas, and Dr. Justin George’s lab at USDA- ARS. Mississippi (https://www.ars.usda.gov/southeast-area/stoneville-ms/southern-insect-management-research/people/justin-george/). The successful candidate will use chemical ecology, electrophysiology, and field entomology tools to identify Semiochemicals, and investigate plant-insect interactions involved in the pest management of cotton, soybean, and sweet potatoes. The research focus will be on developing integrated pest management strategies such as attract-and-kill that incorporates pheromones, attractants, and agronomic practices such as trap cropping to efficiently manage row crop pests in mid-south region of United States. Responsibilities include the day-to-day design and execution of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, preparation of results for publication and summary reports, presentation at professional meetings, and management of the projects.
