Department Summary The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for several Adjunct Instructor openings for the academic year 2023-24. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to assist in further development of the Department of History and Political Science. UNT Dallas offers faculty the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban comprehensive university.
Position Summary The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment, division needs, and dean approval. Your application cannot be considered until all required documents have been received. Please note that adjunct faculty are limited to teaching two courses per semester.
Adjunct faculty plans classes and implements and evaluates teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate political science courses, including the core government sequence consisting of PSCI 1040 and PSCI 1050. UNT Dallas instructors teach PSCI 1040 comparatively, examining both US and Texas constitutions and institutions to compare and contrast the different motives and contexts behind the state and federal charters. This requires a working knowledge of Texas government and how it differs from the national government.
We also seek instructors who can teach upper level undergraduate courses in urban politics, international relations theory, international human rights, comparative courts, and Texas and federal legislative process. Please indicate in your cover letter which upper level courses you may be qualified to teach.

Minimum Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration or a related field with outstanding teaching experience in teaching undergraduate politics courses.
Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Political Science with significant experience college teaching.
  • Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
  • Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
