The College of Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS), University of Manitoba, Canada invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank, commencing on July 1, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is designated for Indigenous candidates only. Covering a wide range of research and study, Indigenous faculty provide a diverse set of experiences and expertise to UM. Many Indigenous faculty produce and share knowledge(s) and research on matters that specifically impact Indigenous communities. Others are role models for Indigenous students and upcoming Indigenous researchers, creating interest in fields of study where Indigenous Peoples have been historically underrepresented. All of these contributions are essential in shaping the landscape of learning at UM, as well as transforming the lives of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples and communities.
The College seeks a scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Candidates at any rank will be considered with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in a health care discipline or a PhD degree in Education. Applicants with a post-Baccalaureate PharmD or other doctoral degree with relevant research experience will be considered.
Recognizing that no one candidate is likely to meet all of the following qualifications in equal measure, they will be used in the assessment of candidates for the position:
• Knowledge and/or experience with Indigenous knowledge systems, methodologies and/or decolonizing scholarship.
• Experience in community engagement and relationship-building within Indigenous communities with preference given to candidates with connections to Manitoba communities.
• Teaching experience with the ability to contribute to the delivery of College of Pharmacy degree or professional development programs, ideally in areas relevant to Indigenous health and education.
• Capacity to develop an independent research program related to Indigenous health.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonizing education.
• The successful candidate will also be expected to provide service at the College of
Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and the University of Manitoba.
The College of Pharmacy is located in the state-of-the-art 90,000 square feet Apotex Centre on the Bannatyne Campus of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, which falls within Treaty 1 territory and the Homeland of the Red River Métis. The University is located within a large health sciences campus and collaborates closely with the Colleges of Community and Global Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Rehabilitation sciences, within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS). The College of Pharmacy also works closely with Pharmacy organizations in Manitoba and with external partners who support work-integrated learning for students in community, hospital and primary care sites. The College is adjacent to several tertiary care teaching hospitals in Shared Health Manitoba and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) as well as the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) and Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute CancerCare Manitoba. The RFHS also houses the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, that conducts world renowned research on health and social determinants of health and supports the province’s population-based data repository. The RFHS also holds a permanent place for Ongomiizwin – Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing; as per its Mission, Ongomiizwin Research is “centrally committed to building and maintaining productive and respectful partnership-based relationships with First Nations, Métis, Inuit and Indigenous communities, to recruiting Indigenous students and scholars, to providing effective support and mentorship and to sharing and building knowledge internationally.”
The College of Pharmacy has a long history of excellence in pharmacy education and research. It is a part of the RFHS at the University of Manitoba and provides opportunities for interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration in health sciences research and education. The University offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs embracing basic biomedical sciences, professional programs, and population health.
