Minimum Position Qualifications High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of appropriate experience. Must have Shelby County Backflow Preventer Certification or obtain within 6 months from date of hire. Must have valid Driver’s license.
Special Conditions
Work Schedule Monday – Friday
7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Must be able to work after normal business hours to respond to occasional emergency situations when necessary.

Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and push or pull up to 250 pounds with appropriate tools or moving equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles, close spaces and is required to climb ladders to access equipment in high and/or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Duties

Duties & Responsibilities Attend various meetings including safety meetings, focus groups, quality team meetings, and Departmental meetings.
Duties & Responsibilities Cleans work area; cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities Estimate types and amounts of materials needed for job; orders materials.
Duties & Responsibilities Install complete plumbing systems into newly constructed buildings and in remodeling jobs.
Duties & Responsibilities Monitor plumbing work done by outside contractors to ensure compliance with University standards.
Duties & Responsibilities Perform installation and repair work on special systems including high pressure air, water filtration, and commercial washers/dryers.
Duties & Responsibilities Review blueprints and inspects job site; consults with client; determines appropriate method of doing project.
Duties & Responsibilities Troubleshoot problems in plumbing systems; replaces or repairs fixtures, pumps, drains, and hot water heaters.
Duties & Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.
