Schedule: Three days a week with full time OB/GYN call (approximately 1 in 7 nights), includes one or two 24-hour weekend calls per month. Occasional additional ½ day in office, when there is no weekday night call. Holidays and recess periods also required.

Position Focus:

In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, a 24/7 Acute Care Department, a 17-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.

As a member of the Yale Health Department of Ob/Gyn, participate in providing high quality, seamless, coordinated and compassionate care at every patient encounter at Yale Health. The Yale Health Ob/Gyn physician provides the full spectrum of general obstetrical and gynecologic care, including outpatient, inpatient, labor and birth, emergencies and GYN procedures, consults with and refers to subspecialists and coordinates care as appropriate, work to build and provide care for the welfare of all YHP patients, this includes their individual panel, as well as readily available as backup for other colleagues, cooperative and supportive of nurses and other front-line staff, willingness to see walk-in and call-in patients when asked by support staff, regularly attends and participates in department meetings and committee assignments and meets regularly with Department Chief and Manager. The OB/GYN physician will participate in on call duty for an average of one in 6 to one in 7, with a post call day off. The department averages 300 deliveries per year.

Essential Duties

1. Defines and documents patients’ clinical problems and reaches proper diagnoses; plans and executes therapy in a timely manner; keeps records of care; provides consultation and teaching for midlevel clinicians. 2. Conducts rounds and signs out patients in a timely, thorough manner and answers calls and pages promptly. 3. Participates in hospital coverage, including: weekday and weekend on-call rotations, hospital rounds, overnight phone calls. 4. Sees patients in Acute Care in rotation. 5. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited medical school.

Required Licenses or Certifications

Holds or is eligible to hold a CT Medical License, Holds or is eligible to hold a CT Controlled Substance Registration, Federal DEA Registration, Board Certification/board eligible, Qualifies for hospital and faculty appointments.
