Physical Security Technology Specialist

Duties:

• Maintains physical access control and security systems
• Assists outside contractors to facilitate the installation of equipment and conduct inspections and repairs
• Serves as a contact for security and surveillance systems
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains existing access control doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms
• Determines placement of new security equipment
• Installs new and replaces existing security hardware
• Repairs and services equipment and maintains equipment inventory
• Assists with evaluating, diagnosing, and troubleshooting system equipment that requires servicing
• Reports and/or addresses all system discrepancies found during inspections to lead technician/supervisor. Includes cleaning, repairing, or repositioning.
• Works with campus systems resource management to accurately record all needed equipment maintenance, inventory, and labor requirements
• Creates or edits as-built drawings as needed.
• Attends continuous training to include system certification, equipment, building code education, industry standards, and best practices.
• Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

 

Job Requirements

Education: High School diploma or GED, or Trade School certificate.

Experience: 24 months of experience in general electronics.

Skills:

• Detail-oriented for accuracy of data and information
• Ability to read and interpret information including complex technical drawings, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and text
• Ability to troubleshoot a problem, develop and implement a solution
• Ability to work independently and as a team player

Working Conditions:

• Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively.
• Environmental: Standard office environment.
