YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The post holder will take good quality blood samples from patients through venepuncture/ cannulation as requested by medical and/or nursing staff. This part of the role accounts for approximately 90% of the post holders contractual hours.

The duties include:

To collect blood samples from both inpatients and outpatients using vacutainer or butterfly methods, ensuring that the correct colour bottles are used for each sample.

To correctly label all samples once taken and package them in the appropriate manner ready for transportation to the laboratory.

To transport samples to the laboratory if and when required.

Working flexibly across the integrated care trust to meet service need. (All acute and outpatient sites)

Administrative duties, to support the service.

Our service operates 7am – 6pm Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm Saturday, Sunday. 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for motivated, well-organised, enthusiastic, friendly individual with excellent communication skills to join the busy Phlebotomy Service. You will work within a dedicated team who work across the UHS Cancer Care Wards and Outpatient service, providing venepuncture and cannulation to our patients.
