PhD Studentship (Data Driven Wind Farm Control)

If you are passionate about renewable energy and offshore wind turbines, there is an exciting fully-funded open PhD position in my group. This project is funded by Science Foundation Ireland through the prestigious Frontiers for the Future programme.

This PhD project will focus on developing data driven wind farm controllers using cooperative model predictive control algorithms. These controllers will take wind farm aerodynamics, structural dynamics and overall wind farm behaviour into account. The successful candidate will join an active research group at Trinity College Dublin, working under the supervision of Prof. Breiffni Fitzgerald at the cutting edge of wind energy research. Prof. Fitzgerald’s group is a multidisciplinary team with experience and expertise in the fields of structural engineering, dynamic systems modelling, control engineering and wind energy.
