PhD Studentship (Data Driven Wind Farm Control)
Trinity College Dublin
If you are passionate about real-time control of offshore wind turbines, there is an exciting fully-funded open PhD position in my group. This project is funded by Science Foundation Ireland through NexSys. The PhD will be supervised by myself and co-supervised by Prof. Vikram Pakrashi from UCD Mechanical Engineering.
This PhD project will focus on developing wind turbine and farm models with consideration of wake effects (including turbulence models) and data from operational wind farms and developing novel controllers to make offshore wind more efficient. The PhD is funded by Science Foundation Ireland’s prestigious energy research programme NEXSYS: https://www.nexsys-energy.ie/. The successful candidate will join an active research group at Trinity College Dublin, working under the supervision of Prof. Breiffni Fitzgerald at the cutting edge of wind energy research. Prof. Fitzgerald’s group is a multidisciplinary team with experience and expertise in the fields of structural engineering, dynamic systems modelling and wind energy.
