Offer Description

The work will be carried out at the CNRS at the Institute of Chemistry of Environments and Materials of Poitiers (IC2MP – UMR CNRS 7285) in the Catalysis and Unconventional Media team under the guidance of the scientific manager. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with D’Alembert and PERSEE.
The candidate will be attached to the Rosalind Franklin doctoral school in Poitiers.

The thesis subject is part of the PEPR SPLEEN POWER CO2 project funded by the ANR. The work will be carried out at the Institut de Chimie des Milieux et Matériaux de Poitiers (IC2MP) in collaboration with D’Alembert (Sorbonne University) and PERSEE (Mines Paris Tech). The aim is to study the hydrogenation reaction of CO2 by non-thermal plasma. The work will focus more particularly on the design of structured catalysts in order to promote gas-solid interaction. The active phases of the catalysts will consist of transition metal oxides deposited on supports of the monolith or ceramic foam type. These materials will be finely characterized before and after reaction under plasma discharge. The CO2 hydrogenation reaction will be carried out at atmospheric pressure and low temperature (near ambient) in plasma-catalysis coupling. A parametric study will be developed with a view to optimizing hydrocarbon yields (T reaction, power, nature of the catalyst and formatting of the support).

Additional comments

The candidate must hold a degree (or graduate during the current academic year) in engineering and/or a master’s degree in chemistry. The position requires solid knowledge of heterogeneous catalysis, good oral and written communication skills (in English) to present results in international congresses as well as to read and write scientific articles. We are looking for a young researcher who will be able to get involved in his project, curious, with a certain autonomy and a strong motivation. In addition, the candidate must be able to work in a team on a multidisciplinary project.
