The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Your responsibilities include:
Work on a research project for the experimental investigation of primary blast trauma, focus: set-up and validation of the experimental setup (shock wave generator).
Specific tasks include:
– Set-up and validation of the test rig (shock generator) on the basis of an autoclave
– Draft and implementation of the measurement set-up, also in generic body models
– Implementation of test series for the investigation of the primary blast injury in a testing team
– Data processing, analysis and publication
Your qualifications:
– Successfully completed university degree in engineering (master’s/diploma) in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, energy and process engineering, physical engineering or a comparable field
– Good knowledge in the application of measurement technology (e.g. pressure, temperature, acceleration)
– Good knowledge of fluid mechanics
– Ability to analyze experimental data in a structured manner and prepare them for publication
– Willingness to perform manual-practical work on the BAM TTS
– Very good spoken and written expression skills in German and English
– Knowledge of gas dynamics/theory of compressible gases is an advantage
– Experience in handling combustible gases and explosion tests is an advantage
– Experience in the design of test rigs is an advantage
– Good communication and information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment and ability to make decisions as well as ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
